Following the by-elections held on Thursday, 29 May 2008 the Parish Council would like to welcome Councillors Jim Bates (Dial Park Ward) and Edward Gallacher (Offerton Hall Ward) onto the Parish Council. The Returning Officer has received a petition from ten local government electors in each of the Dial Park and Offerton Hall wards requesting that a bye-election be held in respect of the current vacancies. Stockport Homes will be providing a complimentary skip service on Monday, 16 July 2007 at Wessenden Bank; Tuesday, 24 July 2007 at Totridge Close and Monday, 30 July 2007 at the Long Grain Place Garage Site. Residents are reminded to ensure that any rubbish is placed inside the skip where it won't cause a trip hazard and to be wary of any sharp objects and when lifting heavy goods. Please note that white goods (e.g. fridges) cannot be disposed of in the skip.

At the meeting of the Council on 14 June 2007, Sarah Kelly was been co-opted onto the Parish Council as an independent to represent the Offerton Hall ward. The Parish Council wishes Councillor Kelly every success in her new role as Parish Councillor. The Council wishes to advise residents that the election for the Parish has been uncontested, and the nine candidates (5 for Dial Park ward and 4 for Offerton Hall ward) have been duly elected.

The Parish Council has long been lobbying for the redevelopment of the Offerton Precinct. Plans have now been submitted and approved for a comprehensive redevelopment of the Precinct and the garage site on Lisburne Lane which is the first step towards rejunivating this long neglected area of our Parish. The Parish Council has been awarded Quality Parish Status by the National Association of Local Councils. Quality councils are in a better position to take on additional services and areas of responsibility from their principal authorities and can demonstrate to local communities that minimum standards have been met.
