Following the by-elections held on Thursday, 29 May 2008 the Parish Council would like to welcome Councillors Jim Bates (Dial Park Ward) and Edward Gallacher (Offerton Hall Ward) onto the Parish Council. Full details of the results of the by-elections can be found on the Parish Council's homepage by clicking here.
The Returning Officer has received a petition from ten local government electors in each of the Dial Park and Offerton Hall wards requesting that a bye-election be held in respect of the current vacancies. The election must now take place within 60 days of notice of the vacancies. For further information on the election and the process to be followed, please click here.

The Parish Council recently attended the National Association of Local Councils Annual Conference. At this prestigious event, the Parish Council were able to make Offerton Park's presence known on a national stage - particularly as we were awarded 'Website of the Year 2007' and Charter Mark status at the event. The Parish Council is delighted to have learned that it has been successful in achieving Charter Mark status - only the second Parish Council in the country to hold such an accolade. Charter Mark is the government's national standard for customer service excellence, and for your Parish Council to hold this award clearly illustrates our commitment to you.

The Parish Council is pleased to annouce that it has been shortlisted for award of Parish Council Website of the Year. The awards ceremony will be held at the NALC conference in Bournemouth on 6 October and rest assured that we will be reporting back to residents on our progress at the conference in the next edition of your 'Community News'.

Representatives of the Parish Council will be attending the NALC 2007 Annual Conference in Bournemouth. The Parish Council has made entries for several award categories at the conference, including that for the website of the year. The Parish Council is also considering ways in which the carbon footprint of the journey to Bournemouth could be offset.

The Parish Council its currently taking stock of its progress to date since 2002 and how we can progress into the future. As part of this process the Parish Councilhas consulted with local residents through the Community News and has produced a document entitled "Progressing and Buillding on our Acheivements" which you can read here (3.57 MB).
